What’s your story?

1. ❖“I feel like I’m the only gay Korean person in the world.”
   

2. ❖“My friend told me she’s a lesbian, and she doesn’t know how to talk to God about it.”
   

3. ❖“My son told me he wants to be a daughter.”
   

4. ❖“I love my child, but what would people in my church think if they found out?”
   

The Dari Project is collecting autobiographical stories and artwork that will document the voices and lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) people of Korean descent, as well as the people in their lives. We seek to display the diversity of LGBTQ people and their stories of joy and struggle in their lives, families, and communities.

These stories and artwork will be disseminated via our website (www.dariproject.org), and eventually gathered into a written publication that will be translated into both English and Korean.

All content must testify to the lived experiences of LGBTQ people of Korean descent, as well as those of their family and friends. Such works include, but are not limited to: personal stories, letters, oral histories, musical lyrics, visual artwork and photographs. We are not accepting works of fiction. Written submissions must be 1500 words or less. Artwork should be submitted in high-resolution JPEG format.

The Dari Project develops resources to increase awareness and acceptance in Korean American communities of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning people of Korean descent.
